Dr. Contreras is an optometric glaucoma specialist, and his primary focus is the management of diseases of the eye such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. He was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley and attended Texas A&M University where he received a B.S. in Biomedical Science. He attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004. Following graduation, Dr. Contreras completed a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore VA Hospital in Maryland. Dr. Contreras speaks both English and Spanish and is an adjunct professor for the University of Houston College of Optometry and University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. He is passionate about his work and strives to provide the best patient care. Dr. Contreras lives in San Antonio with his wife and two sons, and he enjoys exercising, reading, spending time with his family, and watching his sons play club soccer.
